The Features of the HHD used in the 2003 census

The Selection of the device was based on the following criteria:

• Arabic Support.

• Non-Volatile memory storage for back-up.

• Battery Durability.

• Environmental concerns.

•  Easily applicable and does not require high IT knowledge.

• Opportunity of retrieving stored data in case of occurrence of technical failure.

• Having enough memory to store data for 110 households  (the average households in an enumeration area) of average family size 8 individuals.

• Cost (Price of the device).
