Housing & Residence Conditions Occupancy

Refers to the situation of the housing units at the time of the census, in terms of existence of occupants. In terms of occupancy, housing units are classified as follows:

Occupied
A housing unit occupied by one or more households at the time of the census.

Closed
A housing unit used as a place of residence, but was temporarily closed during the census period due to the absence of the householder.

Unoccupied
A place of residence that, although suitable for living, has been unoccupied during the census period, perhaps because it has been put up for sale or rent, or is vacant for any other reason.

 

Main Source of Water

Housing units are classified by the main source of water into:

Public Piped: The housing units are connected to the public water mains.

Private Piped
The housing units are connected to a commercial water distribution system.

Public Water Point
The water source is public or municipal water or any other government project supplying a population locality with water. But, carrying this water to the housing units is not done via pipelines, whereas other means are true, such as water bowsers, on the back of animals, by the family members, or any other means

Private Well
The water supply is obtained from a domestic well within the boundaries of a housing unit or in the vicinity.

Well Outside The Living Quarter
The water supply is obtained from a well outside the boundaries of the housing units.

Falaj
Water is provided to the housing unit from a falaj through any means.

Wadi
Water is supplied into the housing unit from a running wadi irrespective of whether it is carried or pumped.

Mineral Water
Bottled water commercially sold in the market.

Other Sources
Water is obtained from a different source other than the above-mentioned sources.
 

Main Source of Lighting

Housing units are classified by the main source of lighting into:

Public Network
The housing units are connected to the public electricity network.

Private Generator
The housing units are supplied with electricity from a private generator         (or other means).

Kerosene
The lighting sources are lamps lit by kerosene.

Other
Lighting is obtained from a different source other than the above-mentioned sources.
 

Bathroom

The bathroom is the room assigned for bathing purposes, and classified as follows:

Equipped
If the housing unit has a bathroom provided with piped running water connected to a drainage system.

Unequipped
The housing unit has a bathroom not provided with piped running water but water sourced by some other means, notwithstanding that the bathroom is connected to a drainage system.

Not Available
The housing unit has no specific bathroom.
 

Toilet

Toilet is classified as follows:

Equipped
The housing unit has a toilet equipped with a flusher supplied with running water and connected to the drainage system.

Unequipped Bathroom
The housing unit has a toilet but not equipped with a flusher even if it is connected to the drainage system.

Not Available
The housing units have no specific toilet.
 

Kitchen

The kitchen is the room assigned for cooking, and classified as follows:

Equipped
Availability of a cooker, running water and a sink connected to a drainage system.

Unequipped
Unavailability of a cooker, running water in the room designated for cooking.

Not Available
Unavailability of a room designated for cooking inside/outside the housing unit.
