omanmap-new The third country by area size in the Arabian peninsula with 309.5 thousand square kilometers,  the Sultanate of Oman is located between latitudes 16°40'26"N and between longitudes 51°50'59"E. It has a coastal line extending for approximately 3,165 kilometers, from the strait of Hormoz in the north to the boarders with Republic of Yemen. Oman's coastal extends over three seas: the Arabian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Arabian Sea.

The Sultanate is bordered by the United Arab Emirates from the North West, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from the West, the Republic of Yemen from the South West, Hormoz strait from the North, and the Arabian Sea from the East.

According to the 2003 Census, total population was approximately 2.4 million representing an increase of 0.3 million over the 1993 census results. Omani population was 1.782.588 and the expatriates were 559.257 or 24% of the total population. Manpower stood at 873.466, 49% of which were expatriates.

Almost all Omani's are Muslims, and Arabic is the official language, although English is widely spoken.
