Population density for the Sultanate of Oman was 7.6 persons per square kilometer according to the 2003 census.
According to the 2003 census, the region with the most population size in the Sultanate was Al Batinah area with a population size of (653,505) persons.
The sex ratio according to the 2003 census was 102 Omani males for each 100 Omani females.
The average Omani household size was eight persons.
According to 2003 census the total number of housing units is (430,996)
The total population size of the Sultanate of Oman according to the 2003 census is (2,331,391) persons.

Census Planning

The population Census is divided into 4 stages:

  1. Necessary plans for various census stages are designed.
  2. The procedures, methods and methodologies of implementation are defined.
  3. The technical, organizational and financial requirements of those plans are secured.
First stage: Field operations for listing the buildings, housing units and establishments. Listing operation commenced in September and concluded by end December 2009;

Second stage: Field operations for updating the information obtained during the listing operations shall commence on the 6th of March 2010 and last for 12 days;

Third stage: Census face-to-face enumeration with the household head or any other adult member of the household shall commence on the 4th of April 2010 and continue for 10 days.

Arrangement is also made for households wishing to provide their census information directly through the internet.
Assessment of data is the close study of the collated data and the indicators derived thereof. The study entails assessment of the validity and accuracy of the data and that it initiates no discrepancy with the data collected by other sources. This will be completed before it is made available for users.

Data Analysis, in short, is the study of obtained figures and indicators, interpretation of the impact of various associated factors that affect the general standard of the data. This application adds further depth to the census results and enhances the utilization of the data.

The aim of this process is make the collected and audited census data handy to interested parties. As part of this process, all the reports of the assessment results and the analytical studies are published.
