The Census Programme

The Census Administration commenced executing the census programme with a set of preparatory works which form the first phase of the programme. The preparatory works plan comprises (88) activities.

The questionnaire designing is a significant step towards achieving accurate results aiming at obtaining the data, quantitative-and-qualitative-wise. Consequently, the census administration addressed the ministries and government units to envisage their requirements of the census sourced statistical data, so as to take it in consideration when designing the final format of the census questionnaires.
The Census Administration has prepared a special publicity campaign coping with the stages and steps of the various census activities. The campaign is manipulated by the Information and Public Relations Unit at the Census Administration in collaboration with the local information media. The campaign is supervised by a special information committee chairpersoned by H.E. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and membership of a number of representatives of the information departments and media and other concerned entities.
The Ministry of National Economy (MoNE) sought the participation of the ministries and governmental bodies in the census activities and operations since the inception of the preparatory works. In this trend, MoNE requested these bodies to nominate a number of their staff for the job of Census Supervisor. In the streamline, MoNE prepared an orientation programme for the nominated supervisors aiming at providing them with the necessary knowledge and basic information which will qualify them to effectively participate in the census efficacies.

The orientation programme will facilitate the supervisors to adapt themselves with the census atmosphere and corroborate their abilities and awareness of this statistical operation. The Census Administration has started conducting the orientation programme in June 2002 and will continue until mid-2003. Then, the participants will join the main course for supervisors planned to take place in September 2003.
