What's New in 2010 Census

 

 

All aspects of the previous Census were examined by the Census Administration with a view to identifying areas of potential improvement. The major improvements to Census procedures since the 2003 Census include:

  • Use of telephone by the Quality Control unit and Call Centre for completing and correcting the data.
  • Use of the Internet for self-reporting by those preferring this method.
  • Use of digital maps for assuring full coverage of buildings and for creation of Geographic Information System.
  • New Web Portal(this one) and Census Statistics Reporting system.
  • Expanding the use of hand-held computers (PDA) for enumeration to all areas of Oman.
  • Disseminate the preliminary and final results within thirty days of field work completion.
  • Adopting the concept of "Total Quality Assurance".
All the above-mentioned are for assuring speed, accuracy and budgetary savings.
